This stained lip trend is HAPPENING right now. And let me just say how obsessed I am. It's the cool, alternative sister to last year's over drawn, heavily lined and defined lips *cough* Kylie Jenner *cough*. This lip look is the anti-kylie. And the trend has been getting a lot of attention. They can be glossy, matte, pink, persimmon, or purple. The only rule is blending away any strong lines or edges. A few images to get your imagination going:
It's like the chic-est post popsicle mouth you've ever seen.
TRY THE TREND: The great thing about this style is how fool-proof it is. All you need is your favorite lip color (a stain or highly pigmented lipstick works best), a cotton bud, and a little left-over concealer or foundation on your brush. Make sure your lips are well hydrated and free of any flakes, particularly if you're using a matte lip product. Apply your choice lipstick at the inner-center part of your lips and blend outward toward the edges. Use your finger or a cotton bud to remove any product that drifted too far outside the lip line. We want most of the color concentrated at the inner parts of the lip and fading as you move outward. Take a brush with a small amount of foundation or concealer on it and blend over the edges of your lip line (I used a cushion foundation). Add a gloss if you prefer a shiny finish. Voila! You've nailed the cool girl lip look.
