I am having so much fun with makeup right now! I'm talking about all the funky, off-beat, and totally off the wall trends that are all over your instagram feed. I've seen bejeweled lips, holographic highlighter, rainbow contouring and the bushiest of brows to name a few. Not all of them are hits, but really, how cool is it to have all of these amazing products and ideas to experiment with and enjoy! There is no better time to be lady (or gentleman)!!
Over the next few posts, I'm going to be outlining a few of my favorite trends and will be giving you some pointers on how you can achieve these looks. A little disclaimer: these trends are just that, TRENDS! So let's enjoy them while they're fun and remember not to take them too seriously.
Today's Trend: GLITTER!!!!!
We've got glitter lips, glitter lids, glitter roots, glitter everything! I first saw this trend developing as the famous celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath released her MetalMorphosis Kits and blew us all away with her silver, copper, and gold sparkling creations. Now you can find glitter in every color, size, and shape variety known to man. Here is a tiny sampling of what you might see on a regular Pinterest browse..
Pretty fun, right?!
TRY THE TREND: want to give glitter a go? A cool way to make a statement without going full-on Vegas is to focus your glitter on your lids while keeping the rest of your makeup very minimal. Put on your favorite bb cream or tinted moisturizer, brush some gel through your brows, and give your lips and cheeks a touch of color with a cream blush. For your eyes, start off with a primer to keep the glitter locked in place. Give your eye lids a spritz of hydration spray and carefully press the loose glitter on to your lids using your finger or a flat concealer brush. You might want to hold a tissue under your eyes so any stray glitter won't attach to this area. For this look, skip the contouring and defined brows. Remember, fresh natural-looking skin is key to making this look current. Let your eyes be the star. Unless you tryna be Cher circa 1982, in which case forget what I said and do all of the contouring.
thank you to the beautiful Breanna for modeling this look!
